Signage and Branding of your Blog

Your blog is your brand thats why it is not enough just a name and a logo, your blog needs something more. Once you have your blog up and running you have to create an identity, a brand identity involves more than just names and logos thats why in this posts I would like to talk you about “Signage”. The image is a very important part of the branding process and signage is going to help us increase our blog´s image.

But, what exactly is signage in a blog?

Well, it is a combination of visual elements that create an atmosphere or an environment inside the blog, in this way readers and visitors can feel comfortable and identified. The signage of a blog goes from the header to the footer and includes buttons, graphics, logos, colors and fonts. Your blog has to have its own “Soul” or its own identity, If you are using red for links then you have to use that same color for all of them, you cannot have green links and others with red this tends to confuse your readers. Another useful tip is to use the same design for all your buttons, if you do so your visitors are going to know that all similar icons in your site are buttons and no other thing.

Always maintain the same size and color for the text, let me give you an example: Use read for tittles , blue for links and black for the body of your text. Let me talk again about buttons, if you have metallic buttons use the same design for all of them, if you have glossy buttons use the same glossy effect. There are many ways to give an identity to your blog be creative and have fun but always remember the principles.

Traffic Ideas for Brand New Blogs

Lets say you have a brand new blog with some posts and a good design, what happens next? We all know that if you want to make money with your new blog one of the things you have to do is get traffic, lots of traffic. There are blogs that after 6 months they are not getting readers, why? An answer to this question is because the owner is not conscient that he has to promote it. Most bloggers are just waiting for readers without doing anything at all and that´s a fact. There are many ways to get traffic, but why many blogs are not getting readers at all? Well here are some points and tips you might want to try to increase your traffic, all of them are for those who don´t want to spend money getting traffic because what we are trying to do is to make money not to spend it. There are a lot of ways to generate traffic on the internet.

If you don’t want to wait, and you just want to start making money with your blog, let me give you an advice, be patient, and focus on how are you going to get traffic. Here is how to get traffic for your brand new blog.

1. Start visiting other similar blogs and posting comments on them, but remember to include your blog´s URL. Many readers read comments.

2. Submit your blog to directories, there are lots and lots of free directories out there, submit to each one of them, also remember that with each submition you are getting backlinks very important for your search engine ranking.

3. Join forums and introduce yourself and your blog. Add a link and invite people to visit your blog, explain them what it is about and what it offers.

4. Submit an article, there are many article submition sites where you can share your knowledge, remember to include something like “For more information visit my blog” add your URL.

Use these techniques and you´ll see how your traffic starts to grow, remember this simple formula: Traffic= Money!

The Importance of Backlinks

First of all I´m going to introduce you a very important formula for your blog: Backlinks = Free Traffic. The first time I heard the word “backlink” I didn’t knew what it was, so I made research to learn something about it, because a friend told me that they were very important for any website or blog, because without them it was for sure that my blog would never appear in search engines. Ok, now I´m going to explain what a “backlink” is.

Backlinks are links that are directed towards your website or blog. The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of a blog. They are important for SEO because some search engines, especially Google, will give more credit to those that have a good number of quality backlinks, and consider those blogs more relevant than others in their results pages for a search query. Google gives a lot of priority to those blogs with lots of backlins, why? Because Google knows that backlinks are often created by humans, therefore this means that the blog has to have some value.

Most successful blogs have more than 1,000 backlinks. There are many ways to get backlinks for free, my best advice would be : always write high quality content. If you have good content then more people will backlink to your blog or to an specific post. Here is an example: You wrote a very good post about the “latest design trends”, then let´s suppose that 10 blog owners who read your post really liked it and they write a small post in their own blogs about your article and add your URL to their blogs, well you´ll get 10 new backlinks and more traffic. You see? That´s a very good technique to get them. But there are more techniques you might want to try.

1. Write an article related to what your blog is about, then submit it to free article directories and add your blog´s URL at the end of the article. This will give you backlinks and traffic.

2. Submit your blog to free directories like Dmoz.com (This will also increase your SE ranking). Just type in your favorite search engine “free directory”.

3. Ask other websites or blogs to share backlinks, you will have to include their URL in your blog and they will have to add yours. There is nothing wrong with requesting a link from another blog.

4. Join forums related to the topic of your blog and post comments , use your URL as your signature.

5. Set up a mini site; Create a small website about a very specific topic, you can always use free hosting services but I recommend purchasing a cheap hosting package, then add your blog´s url in your mini site.

Remember that older links are better than new ones and that links from related sites are better.

Previously I wrote about four figure bloggers and how to become one. Well, now in this post I want to write about the next step the money making adventure of blogging; How to become a five figure blogger. First of all let me tell you that becoming a five figure blogger is not an easy task, it gets harder because it requires a lot of work, but don´t worry! You can always count on Blogger Lounge. 5. Your blog has to be fast loading, easy to read and easy to navigate.

6. You have to perfectly blend your ads.

7. Be one of the top 10,000 blogs in Technorati.
